Plain words about CBD.

What the products are, how to read strength and price, and why the rules depend on where you live. This guide describes products. It does not say what any of them does for a person.

1

What CBD is

CBD is short for cannabidiol, one compound found in hemp and cannabis plants. Makers add it to oils, gummies, creams and capsules.

2

The product types

Mostly the type tells you how a product is made and measured.

Oils and tincturesA liquid in a dropper bottle. Strength is stated per dropper or per bottle.
Gummies and ediblesChewable pieces. Strength is stated per piece.
TopicalsCreams and balms meant for the skin. Strength is stated per container.
CapsulesMeasured capsules. Strength is stated per capsule.
3

Strength and price

Read strength as milligrams per serving and per container. To compare, divide the price by the total milligrams.

Example only: a bottle priced at $30 with 1,000 mg of CBD costs $0.03 per mg. The numbers are made up.

4

Where the rules stand

There is no single answer. Federal and state rules differ, change, and in some places limit certain forms or sales. Age limits apply. Check your state's current rules and the seller's terms. This guide says nothing about whether any product may be shipped to you.

5

Medical questions

Questions about health, or about medicines you already take, belong with a clinician or pharmacist. This guide does not answer them.
